Blog Wars 4 - Sat 1st Dec 2012 - Tickets on Sale now!

After several emails to Maelstrom I've finally managed to agree a date for Blog Wars 4. It will be held at Maelstrom on Saturday December 1st 2012. I appreciate this is a lot later than originally planned but hopefully people will still be able to make it.

The original date was going to be in October but happened to fall on my friends stag do and I could hardly tell him to reschedule just for me! The next date available was the same guy's wedding! This meant the only date left in 2012 was December 1st so that's what we're going with. Maelstrom's events calendar fills up pretty quickly so I've actually booked the dates for BW5 & BW6 in 2013! Here's the dates for the next three Blog Wars tournaments:

Blog Wars 4 - Saturday 1st December 2012
Blog Wars 5 - Saturday 22nd June 2013
Blog Wars 6 - Saturday 19th October 2013

Now, like me, you probably don't plan that far ahead but these dates should stay the same so I figured there was no harm in letting you guys know. I'm going to update the BW4 post accordingly. I imagine for most people it will be their last tournament of 2012 and I can't think of a better way to end the year (though I would say that!).

As I've mentioned BW4 will attemped to embrace 6th edition as much as possible. Allies, Fortifications and Flyers are all in. Whilst I may live to regret these decisions I think it's best to give them a go and then figure out any problems so that BW5 & 6 will be better. For more information on Blog Wars 4 please head over to the dedicated page here. A copy of that information can be found here whilst descriptions of the scenarios are here.

For those of you not familiar with Blog Wars it's a 3 game tournament for £15 with the only restriction being that your army MUST include a special character. The first 3 tournaments were great fun and I think I managed to achieve a friendly atmosphere with a fairly competitive tournament. If nothing else it's a great opportunity for experienced players to try out lists they wouldn't normally take and for tournament newcomers to pop their cherry in a friendly environment!

Tickets are on sale now and are staying at £15 despite increasing costs. Please use the link on the right to buy tickets and if you want multiples either faff with several transactions or email me and we can make it simpler!

I look forward to seeing you all there and I hope some of the people who couldn't make the old date can now attend!

  1. I think at least 2 of the Sons of Sanguinius will be in attendance mate.. we wouldn't miss a Blog Wars!
I'll throw a few advertising posts up on the blog..
    Catch you soon!

  2. At least one Weedude will be there.

  3. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to make it now the date has changed. Really quite pleased about that. I'd love to see it stick to a pure 6th Ed style of game, seems far too early in the edition to be messing with things, but that is just me.

  4. You cam count me in for Blog Wars IV, V and VI!

I'm hoping to get the first 1,000pts of Squats-as-Imperial Guard on the table next week, so hopefully by December I'll have a full army ready for Blog Wars... ...finally!

  5. Hi there

I am interested in coming to this tournament but am neither a blogger (although an avid reader of many) or have ever been to a tourney. Is this tourney suitable for people like me as I am thinking of attending?

  6. You'd be very welcome to attend. It was originally started for bloggers but even the first one had non-bloggers!

I think it'd be perfect for a tournament newcomer as its a friendly environment and not too competitive. Hopefully someone else will back me up on that so you don't have just take it from me.

  7. Hi Alex, I've just paid for my ticket for Blog Wars IV. Looking forward to it, as always! I will be bringing my Squats, counting as Imperial Guard. There are a few scratchbuilt artillery guns on Chimera Hulls that aren't drastically different from GW Medusas/Basilisks etc, and ideally I'd like to use the following too:

    - Modified Ramshackle 'Grendl' as Leman Russes or Basilisks/Medusas:

    - Modified Ramshackle 'Boneyard Truck' as Manticore:

    - 2 x scratchbuilt airships as Vendettas:

    - Ramshackle 'Boring Machines' as Chimeras:

    Will that be ok?

    1. I'm sure it'll be fine mate. Looking forward to finally seeing the squats you've been talking about for years!

  8. Cheers for that, I'll post pictures at some point so you can make a size comparison for them. And it's been almost three years, to be precise! I started working on them over Christmas 2009 and have, in the meantime, dabbled with Nids and Eldar. But I'm really looking forward to laying some Ordnance Barrage blasts on the table ASAP. Hoping for my first game on Wednesday or Thursday using them. I'll try and blog the results!
